1998 xc70 ignition issue
Hello!
New member, long-time reader with a question for which I have searched and read as much as I can find...
I bought my 1998 xc70 from her second owner, and she always has had excellent maintenance records. She currently has over 150,000 miles. (Came from the U.S., I am in Canada) When I bought her 3 years ago, the common "sticky shifter button" problem was minor, but a couple of times over the years other people have driven her and tried to force the key out. Every once in a while, it would get difficult to push in the shifter button, and the "shiftlock override" button would need to be depressed to get her into gear.
This week, my ignition cylinder got wonky. Sometimes it goes around a full 360 degrees (clockwise) before catching, and then turns over just fine. I am wondering if anyone has experience with this sort of problem in this model year, as the 1998 is kind of hard to come by around my area.
