Volvo Open Source
Quick Background:
I had a 1995 850 manual wagon for the past six years, loved it (although she was a bit slow). However, it was totaled while driving back from LA last month - was side swiped by a big rig that miscalculated passing me.
Now:
As a replacement, my mechanic sold me a 1998 XC V70. It has the auto transmission and the turbo. I'm recently getting into this whole ODB-II/software updating. My day time job is software engineering and must admit, I love how everything - right down to how the seats are controlled - is done via the ECU.
My Question:
I'm finding it hard/impossible to find ways of updating the code(software) within the ECU without going through shady/illegal means. I would like to know if there's an Open Source software development team/group who are into coding and sharing/tinkering with their ECUs?
Best,
Jon
