Default aligning marks for timing belt change

I'm at the point where I can remove the timing belt but I do not see a mark on the crank gear to align with the tic on the motor. I've rotated the gears three times and I swear, there is no mark on the crank gear.

With the mark on the cam gears ligned up to the marks on the cover and the gears locked couldn't I get by just by putting a mark on the crank gear and the motor and putting a mark on the motor adjacent to the cam gear marks and making sure everything stays ligned up after the New timing belt is installed?

the car is a 2004 XC70.

Picture from the Volvo service manual.

Picture from when I did my wife's 2005 S60.

Finally a video from FCP Euro

ssicarman, thanks for the help. I was able to find the marks on the crank but when lined up the marks on the cams were like 90 degs ccw from the top, not even close to the marks on the plastic cover.
The car ran fine before I started the job so I'm leaving them that way.
