Default Key Fob Reprogramming

I purchased a 2001 V70 XC Country Wagon for my daughter that was in great shape with only 98K. Took a lot of elbow grease and time to make it look mint ( the OCD in me). The rear view mirror was half dimming. So I purchased a used OEM one off E-Bay. Now the key Fob will not work the door locks electronically. I tried the turn to position ll- 5 times on 5th time leave it wait for red dash light to flash. Never did. Did not work. Several attempts. Called Volvo, they said that I needed the car that the new(used) mirror came from to reprogram it. Which to me was saying they did not have a clue ! They are a large dealership that I have purchased 3 XC90's since 2005. (Long story, and not an inexpensive one to boot) My understanding is my next move would be to find a locksmith with the Volvo software that could reprogram it. Which I am finding out are few and far betwen, due to the expensive cost of the software. I am curious if anyone has any other potential solutions other than try another dealership ? Would appreciate it beyond belief. Thanks

The mirror is a module, not just a mirror. It requires programming. If you still have your old mirror, you can take it apart and just transfer the glass from the used one.

Thank you for your reply ES6T. I have actually removed the existing computer board from the old mirror and will install on new mirror if I am unable to find someone who can reprogram at a reasonable rate. I prefer to reprogram as opposed to replace, due to the fact to remove either mirror or computer board, there is a double sided stick foam pad both are adhered to. You have to use heat to loosen either to remove. In doing so a board could be damaged from heat. Unlikely, but a possibility. Volvo seems to have a lock on the software for this. They charge so much that all locksmiths I have talked to have not purchased the software because it is not cost effective unless you do a tremendous amount of Volvo's.
I will keep you posted. Thanks again

I don't even know if you can reprogram the used module to that car. Many modules won't work used.
