Towbar Wiring: Reverse Light For Trailer Surge Brakes
I am going from a flat 4 connector to a circular 7 pin connector. I need to tap into the reverse lights in order for the surge brakes to detect that I actually want to back up the boat trailer.
I have read the wiring diagrams for the connection box and have determined that pin 6 is the right place to get the reverse lights signal. It should be equal to batter power (around 12 volts) but it measures only about 4 volts.
I have wired a WHITE wire from pole 6 to the purple connector that maps to the center pin on the 7 pole connector.
All the running lights and the signal lights are perfect.
1) Other than ask the dealer, do you see anything bad - except the color of the wire?
2) What have you done to overcome this issue too?
I will attempt to add photos.
