Well, I built the engine up from a bare block so I set static timing at 12° BTDC and then after it was running, gradually set it by ear. With the shaved head, I have to run 93 octane and I simply advanced the timing until it clattered under hard acceleration and then backed it off until it stopped. Old school and low tech...but it works.

Hey there, thanks for sharing your resto. I just picked up a 144 today that was looking pretty sad, wasn't sure how much I would invest in it, but you've inspired me to invest a little more. If mine turns out half as good as yours, I'll be happy Thank you. Nicely done by the way, looks great.

I live down in Australia haha, but I'll take a look anyway, thanks. Seems to be a fair bit of rust, and all the seats couln't be rescued, it would take a lot to get it registered under Aus regulations. So I'm just going to get it race ready, always wanted a race car.
Considering the carby swap also just so it's not as complicated, or all out with an engine swap. You guys won't try and murder me for that will you? Hahah

Occasionally, I find myself buying car parts simply because the price is right rather than because I need them. Such was the case with this oil filter relocation kit. The 144 was the only one with a semi-tight oil filter as it is hidden above and behind the header pipe. So...Monday I swapped this kit in, works great.
Car looks great too. I did the same thing to the Virgo's on the wife's 245 but with Duplicolor, and they've held up about 6 years now.
Best regards,
Chris

That car is beautiful!!
I have a 144 that needs restoration but the B20 engine in it is sound...unfortunately I too need to sell it in order to pay my mortgage... Any thoughts as to how I should do so?
