what kind/size of freeze plugs did you use to seal off the injector holes? ive gotten a carb and intake manifold and that basically all i have to take care of to get this baby to pop off.

Honestly, it was trial and error. I contemplated using epoxy and Buffalo nickels as they are almost perfect in diameter. I'll take a look in my records tomorrow and see if I made a note of the final size.

I ended up getting some shallow 3/8in plugs. Fit like a glove. Did you have to set the timing differently after switched from fi to carb?

Well, I built the engine up from a bare block so I set static timing at 12° BTDC and then after it was running, gradually set it by ear. With the shaved head, I have to run 93 octane and I simply advanced the timing until it clattered under hard acceleration and then backed it off until it stopped. Old school and low tech...but it works.

Hey there, thanks for sharing your resto. I just picked up a 144 today that was looking pretty sad, wasn't sure how much I would invest in it, but you've inspired me to invest a little more. If mine turns out half as good as yours, I'll be happy Thank you. Nicely done by the way, looks great.

They are fun little cars once they are running right. Be sure you take a good look underneath before you go to much further. They are prone to serious structural rust underneath, particularly up north where the roads are salted.

I live down in Australia haha, but I'll take a look anyway, thanks. Seems to be a fair bit of rust, and all the seats couln't be rescued, it would take a lot to get it registered under Aus regulations. So I'm just going to get it race ready, always wanted a race car.

Considering the carby swap also just so it's not as complicated, or all out with an engine swap. You guys won't try and murder me for that will you? Hahah

I'd like to do the same mod to my 240's and 122's. Did you see any significant change/drop in oil pressure due to added lines?

Car looks great too. I did the same thing to the Virgo's on the wife's 245 but with Duplicolor, and they've held up about 6 years now.

Best regards,

Chris

I'm sure oil pressure dropped theoretically but not enough to show on the gauge. It's really no different than the oil coolers they used on 240 and later turbo cars.
