P1800 high beams won't turn of
Hi. I'm new around here, but I can't find anyone who's having a similar issue. I have a 1971 P1800E whose high beams are stuck on. I was trying to remove the turn signal switch (high beams are part of that; no foot switch), but I can't seem to access the top screw of the indicator lever without removing the entire bottom of the dash board. That seemed a little excessive, so I thought maybe I was missing something.
I'm also willing to just disconnect the high beams, but I don't know if I can just pull the wire out. From under the steering wheel, it's hard to tell exactly how the wires are connected. Help with this hack is appreciated, too.
Thanks for any help, and maybe I'll be able to return the favor someday.

The headlights are operated through a relay on the inner fender. Pulling on the column lever energizes the relay to switch from high to low. you really need a wiring diagram. get one of these.

Thanks
I replaced the relay and it's working great now. It was acting squirrelly when i was trying to disconnect the high beams, e.g. they stayed on even when the wire coming from the steering column was disconnected, and the relay itself got really hot.
