I do wear my belt but if I'm looking for change for a drive-through or toll, or just stopped and want the engine running I don't like the ticking noise. Is it possible to turn it off somewhere? I tried disconnecting the plug to the seat-belt but it put on the airbag light which is probably not good.

I don't think so since it is tied into the air bag system.

Thanks. Any idea what is in the circuit in the seat belt clip? A resistor, a diode, a chip??? It isn't just a switch.

It might be related to the seatbelt pretensioner mechanism, hence the SRS light coming on. The 'ticky-tock' box does not appear on any of the schematics I've seen but then again neither does the flashing light above the rear wiew mirror.

Hadn't thought of that. So as well as setting of the air bag I'm risking setting off some sort of firework in the seat belt mounting! Think I might stop messing around with it.

I just thought of another way you might be able to do it.See if you can find one of those seat belt extenders. Plug it into the latch and when you need to remove it just undo the belt itself leaving the extender in the latch assy.

More hassle than it deserves maybe, but it's an idea. Thanks Tech.
