Alright, i got my 2002 C70 Coupe mid-December and i live in NY. obviously it's been on the chilly side here. Now that it's warming up, a squeak is coming from my glovebox. At night, when the temp drops, the noise disappears. It happens when I go over bumps, even little ones. if i tap the glovebox when still, it makes the sound. seems to happen when the sun has been shining on the car for awhile and it's over 50 degrees or so.
I have tightened all the screws, no help. It is really starting to get on my nerves.

Anyone else ever have this problem? any fix's? it is still under warranty, but as we know, some problems are better taken care of on your own, if possible.

thanx in advance!

Sit in the passenger seat and grab the dash and pull on it and push on it and see if it makes the noise. The mounting tabs are breaking on the dash sometimes. Then if it is take it in and complain and make them fix it.You can also put a little peice of foam inbetween the glove box door and the dash and see if it helps.

On the radio there is a knob on the left hand side. Turn this knob clockwise until the squeaking disappears.

That's probably why I need go have my hearing tested.

Re: the c-70 still under warranty....................do not hold your breath that Volvo is going to repair it "for free". Squeaks and rattles are not considered. Unless, and as Tech mentioned, the tabs are actually broken, you are out of luck for warranty repair.

just to update you guys. I took the car in for service, and they told me that they lubricated something, not sure what. The noise is still there but not as much and is a bit more muted. guess it needs to be lubed a little more. Thanks for the help!

the lube will wear out... had the same problem... what u need to do is get something to stick between the door and the and the base so you isolate the hinges... that will make it impossible for the metal on metal to rub
