View Full Version : help changing shocks nickv40 12-16-2007, 12:09 AM need help replacing springs shocks etc on a volvo v40 mcguij1 12-17-2007, 12:28 PM dont do these unless you know exactly what you're doing. You also will need a spring compression tool in order to remove them. Also, make sure to have a wheel alignment done after changing. nickv40 12-18-2007, 06:37 AM does anyone have directions fro changing shocks out on a v40 mcguij1 12-18-2007, 08:49 AM there are no how to directions. the most luck you would have is under S40concepts.net. But again, unless you've done this before I wouldnt mess with it. You need to make sure your putting the correct shocks/struts on first. What setup are you going with? OEMS or aftermarket? cbevis 01-09-2008, 03:02 PM Try a Haynes or Chiltons guide. I know....they're typically lacking but Chiltons did fine with the 240. Rascal2pt0 08-22-2008, 09:35 PM Shocks and struts are fairly straight forward. Elevate and unbolt as whole units. Unbolt the strut mounts, not the struts, you don't do that till their off the car, so you can compress the springs. If you have springs mounted seperate from the struts just make sure the springs are aligned when you drop it back down. khooper 08-30-2008, 02:11 AM Shock / spring replacement can be a difficult and tedious task, so be sure that you ask help of someone whois also have knowledge on this parts. ______________________ Replacement Shocks (http://replacementshocks.com/shocks-and-struts-news/) KALIN850W 10-14-2008, 08:53 AM please let a volvo tech do it..dont want a fellow volvo to be in the paper for killing his driver:( |
