hi,

I just had new brakes installed on my 98 T-5. Now after approx 1500 miles on them they are making a squeeling noise when braking at low speed or coming to a stop at low speed. Before I go back to the mechanic who did the job, anyone have any ideas or advice on what is going on here. I dont want to BS'd by the mechanic since auto repair is not my specialty.

thanks

Are the pads Volvo or Aftermarket?
If they are aftermarket they are to hard of a pad and will squeel till you replace them.
If they are Volvo pads they might not have put enough grease on them when they installed them.

I have the same problem with my 850 pads I just installed and it is b/c mine are higher performance pads then stock. I believe that this is common w. performance pads.

I use after market ceramic pads on the front................they are sprayed liberally with CRC anti squeal..............this product works!! The rears I use are aftermarket and I use synthetic grease on the backs of them. You did not mention whether it is the rears that are squealing or the fronts..................if it is the rears it may well be that the shims were not replaced at the time of new pads.
