Just bought ( May 3rd ) my wife a 2008 S40 2.4i and she's LOVING IT!! Since this is our first Volvo, I figured it would be a good idea to join the forum and "mingle" with the Volvo experts.

Welcome to the forum, a nice machine your wife's got.
Even though the other mfgs are starting to catch up, Volvos are still the safest cars available to public.
New cars may have some minor manufacturing defects & recalls, and make sure to take advantage of the new car warranty. Recalls may not come out until next year, unless something seriously critical to safety.
Be sure to follow scheduled maintenance to get the most out of your new Volvo. 85% of the time cars breakdown because the owners neglect scheduled maintenance.
