Hello All:
I was wondering if there are any recommended treatmants to "Waterproof" the convertable top.
My wife just acquired a brand new car and water beads up and runs off the top, which seems like similar material.
On our 99 C70 it seems to just soak in (but does not leak). Can anyone recommend a treatment to increase the life of the top?
Thanks, Ron Y 1999 C70 Convertible

Do a Google search for "raggtopp". The protectant is good stuff, I've used it on my 2000 C70. After a heavy rain or when washing the car fabric still appears to soak some water but at first contact and while driving it will bead and roll off.
The difference is between a canvas top vs a vinyl top. The less costly vinyl "sheds" water whereas the considerably more expensive canvas top appears to absorb the water.............which it isn't. There are 'top treatments' such as 'topdwn' suggests that will help.

Hi Reg:
The other car is an 05 BMW Z4 with canvas (fabric) top. The water beads right up and rolls off. No sign of adsorption. I did a search and found a treatment which I will try.
Thanks, Ron
Gasman............good to hear from another BMW driver.............my first auto was a 1957 Isetta.........I currently have a Hartge H-3. At any rate, your Bimmer is new and that is most likely why the water is beading up............wait 'til it is a couple of years old and you will see a difference. It (BMW) came from Carolina with a top treatment.
