A little experience I had last week. Have my S90 for sale to replace it with a Volvo Wagon. Older gentleman calls me about it and wants me to take it to the local Volvo dealership for inspection. No problem!! He sets the time up and tells me it will take about an hour. No problem! I call the dealership and they tell me I have to drop the car off all day and I cannot accompany them during their, "extended test drive".
BIG PROBLEM!! The service manager tells me not to worry since they are insured, and I tell HIM there ain't no way some pimple faced kid is going to hot rod my Volvo on a test drive without me there. I also remind him that if they damage my car, I end up with body work that devalues my Volvo.

I call the guy back who wants it inspected and tell him that I will not let my Volvo out of my sight. He immediately says thanks and hangs up.

I find out that he already has several Volvos and I suspected that he uses the dealership inspection to not just check the condition of the car, but to have them "Certify" what will be needed to make it a Certified Volvo. Thus he comes back to me and wants me to knock down my sell price based on whatever expense it takes to "Certify" my Volvo.

In 35 years of selling my own cars, I never have had anyone want to take it to a dealership since any moron can see from my records and the condition of my car that it is in excellent shape.

Proves an old adage of mine,"If you try to get something for nothing...I will sell you the Nothing"

 

wow, never thought that some one would try to pull a fast one like that !

 

Just goes to show you that it "takes all kinds". Unfortunately you had to deal with this bozo. Good luck selling your car.
