View Full Version : Ipod adapter for 1999 Volvo s70 S70driver 05-14-2006, 09:52 PM Just like the thread title says I am looking for a Ipod adapter for 1999 Volvo s70. Anyone know of one? Bender 05-14-2006, 10:04 PM i dont know of anything to put it inline... but you can always go with a tape adapter, the price cants be beat and they are pretty damn cheap Bender 05-14-2006, 10:05 PM do you have a cd changer? S70driver 05-15-2006, 01:32 AM i dont know of anything to put it inline... but you can always go with a tape adapter, the price cants be beat and they are pretty damn cheap I would like something inline clean looking as possible. do you have a cd changer? Yes in the trunk S70driver 05-15-2006, 01:50 AM Over on VS they are talking about a Blitz Safe or whatever it is called adapter kit, cheaper too, plus it charges the Ipod. S70driver 05-16-2006, 11:52 AM Well I called Volvo and asked if they had one but they only have them for the current platforms which I assumed but had to check anyways. So I am going to go with the Blitz Safe one which is only like $75-$79. S70driver 05-16-2006, 04:07 PM They are out of stock, but should be in by next week. UGH S70driver 05-17-2006, 08:33 PM Ok so I got it from another site now. Since LogJam was out of stock. http://enfigcarstereo.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/VOL_MLINK1_V1.html The place I got it from was on sale so $10 cheaper then LogJam to begin with, plus I got UPS three day shipping for $7 something which was cheaper then LogJam because they didn't even offer that option for that price or at all. S70driver 05-18-2006, 11:23 AM Will be here Monday!!! S70driver 05-26-2006, 09:24 PM Got it a little while back. I don't have my Ipod yet, but will tomorrow. If I have time I am going to use the writeup from a fellow VS member who did the same thing. So we will see. S70driver 05-27-2006, 12:55 PM Well it is installed and I am awaiting my Ipod. Then it is off to test and see if it works or not. S70driver 05-27-2006, 07:22 PM Ipod adapter works and sounds great. This is a great add on for anyone who has an Ipod and would like to use it in their car. 1996-2000 models and I believe it works with models before like 1991+. volvodriver.com.au 06-21-2006, 09:56 PM cool... what model is your stereo?? SC901? Im asking coz I have the SC900 and was told by numerous ppl that no ipod adapter would work into the cd changer port with that particular model. I do see from the link you have posted that it works with any volvo stereo starting with model SC I went down the path of the ipod radio link, its not a transmitter as such, it hijacks the fm antenna in, and it sounds pretty good, so long as your not in the absolute city centre as you do get interference. S70driver 06-24-2006, 04:52 PM I honestly don't know what my HU is, SC??? or whatever. I do know that any Volvo's in that year range listed on their website that has a CD changer port will work with the Ipod adapter I got. Or it is suppose to. Mine works great. You might have gotten confused that when the Ipod adapter is hooked up to the CD changer port that your CD changer doesn't work. volvodriver.com.au 06-28-2006, 12:16 AM Hmmm nah i knew the 3 stacker in the front will work fine as thats part of the unit and that this port was for an additional 6 stacker coz of the 6 stacker button on the face of the unit but yea all the local companies here were adamant it wouldnt work, I wasnt game to try it as the only place I could source a part was overseas and with no local support it woulda been a bummer if it didnt work. Anyway I have ordered it from that site, I got them to confirm that it would work as well. I'll post up with my experience as soon as I get it and test. BTW the SC number for your stereo should be on the front of the unit on either the right or left hand side, can't remember. S70driver 06-28-2006, 06:34 PM I don't have a CD changer in my headunit. I have a stock 6 disc CD changer in my trunk. Which is connected to the HU with a cord. I unplugged that cord to install the Ipod adapter. Now my CD changer doesn't work, but I don't mind since I never used it that much anyways. volvodriver.com.au 07-06-2006, 03:12 AM fantastic stuff mate, worked beautifully, thanks so much for the link, the sound is superb. Installation was a sinch, the cradle I had in there for the previous ipod installation just plugged straight into the blitzasafe. Thanks again!! :) S70driver 07-08-2006, 06:11 PM Your welcome. |
