a buddy and i were going to make a custom intake by taking out the box in my '88 740T and take the hose and put a mushroom air filter over it (of course securing it also), then i found out about the eurosport tuning intake. i had a question about which work better, the price of the euro tuning intake is 3x as much as the custom one but i am willing to spend that if it is alot better than this option.
thx for any input

IMO no way to block as much heat with a custom intake than the EST. Unless you can fabricate alumnium to make the sheild, plastic will always let more heat through.

Take a look at the thread I posted about SLATER's DIY CAI for the Volvos. It is on the forum, should be under Intakes and what not.

actually had one more question referring to your comment about yours and the temp.
Temperature question:
Because of the set up with the metal heat shield comming very close to the hood and the stock inlet from above the grill temperatures are wondeful. Though I do not have a laser temp gage the difference was more than enough for there to be an extremely noticible difference simply putting my hand inside of both.
and weather stripping it away from engine bay
how would you do this......well i can just wait until i order it soon
