Hello Everyone....first time posting here.

I have a number of questons regarding my 2000 S80 2.9 liter engine, non-turbo.

Questions:

1. Where can I get a good after market repair manual? (my local auto parts stores don't seem to carry any for newer Volvo's)

2. Where can I find out what engine my car has? (I've been to a lot of internet parts sites, and they list the engine type for the 2000 Volvo S80 2.8 liter with turbo as a B6482T, but they don't list an engine type for my 2000 Volvo S80 2.9 liter non-turbo)

3. Where can I find a timing belt for my 2000 Volvo S80 2.9 liter non-turbo? (none of the online sites I have been to have them)

4. My ABS warning light was on, so I took my Volvo S80 2.9 liter non-turbo to my local Volvo dealer to have it checked out, I forgot what it was they said was wrong...but they did say that it was going to cost $950 to repair. Can anyone hazzard a guess at what is wrong, or what usually is the most common thing to go wrong with an ABS braking sysytem?

Thanks, sorry for all of the questions in one post.

To answer your quiestions.
1.I dont think they make any manuals yet at Volvo it is all P.C. based and no manuals.
2.If you look on the inside of your hood on the emissions sticker it will have engine family and yours should be a B6294S which stands for 6 cyl, 2.9,4 valves per cyl.
3.Have you tryed your local imports auto store? The timing belt isn't easy to change.
4.The ABS control module is bad and will need to be replaced.
Hope this helps.
Any other quiestions feel free to ask.

I have a 2000 S80 2.9 with 88,000 miles. I too have the ABS light problem. Mines a little more complicated in that I also get a Check Engine and STC warning light. None of them seem related to the other althought the STC seems to come on more when the ABS light is on.

Interestingly, when the ABS light comes on the Cruise Control doesn't work. I wonder if the ABS doesn't work?

I also went to my dealer and he said, as yours did, that the ABS STC computer (chip?) has to be replaced for a cost exceeding $800. They tried resetting the Check Engine but that only worked for a week or so.

I am having a problem believing that the computer (Chip) has to be replaced as I find that NONE of the lights come on when the outside temperature drops below 50 deg F!!!!! So, for the last couple of months, I have had no problems!

Follow link above they rebuild abs modules for $155.00
The abs module acts up intermitantly they are very weird and when the lights are on the ABS is inactive. Also the STC is inactive because it is controled by the ABS module.Did they happen to tell you what the check engine light was or what the code was?

Thanks for the replacement info! They didn't tell me the error code on the "check engine" module.

If you have the receipt from the dealer most of the time they have it typed in there.

The workshop manual is a DVD with vadis on it. Vadis give you all details you have to have for maintenance and upgrade.
If connected to the vtc2000 box and a PC you can read the car and solve some of the warning lamps

I think some ebay dvds and manuals on the S80 are available (I ordered one a couple weeks ago should reach me at work sometime this week)....
