How good are the Yakima systems? tech 11-07-2004, 11:39 PM I'm not to farmiliar with the aftermarket roof racks.Have you checked with Volvo they make many for your model car? Vender 11-08-2004, 08:36 PM Yakima and Thule are the industry standards. Top notch products. What i do recommend doing is reading reviews of whatever racks you're looking at. Either way, make sure you're getting a large name brand product. This is one of those things where going for a secondary name brand wont cut it. Check out which setups you prefer, and then read the reviews. Ask the rep at the store, make sure he knows what he's talking about though And if you don't know much about the setups, read up at Yakima's site, they have "roofracks 101" I do know that Volvo makes roof rigs for the XC70, those are for sure gonna bolt right in, and have a a factory look. But they of course, come at a slightly higher price: Volvo Roof Racks for XC70 (http://www.volvocars.us/Showroom/XC70/Specifications/OptionsAccessories/) Yakima's Homepage (http://www.yakima.com/home.html) tech 11-10-2004, 06:21 PM Thanks for the back up Vender. klphil 12-30-2004, 03:19 PM I just put the Thule system on my XC 70 and I love it. There are several models to choose from. In fact, I went to the dealer and that is what they would install. However, I saved $ by getting it at GI Joes and installing myself. Took about 30 - 40 minutes doing it myself in the cold encluding the ski mounts. Karen brucebowe 07-24-2005, 04:56 PM I just joined and thought I might comment on this.. So far as I can tell, Thule makes the rack for Volvo. And, you can get the rack at a Volvo dealer for less that you can find Thule ones that will work. Quite inexpensive.. I know sometimes I bust a gut trying to find aftermarket stuff thinking I'll save $$. Usually true, but not in this case. |
