Just thought I'd post this incase anyone else is thinking of debadging their Volvo.

Very easy job which takes about 1/2 hour (If you don't use trial and error like I did)


1. Heat badges with a hairdryer (I didn't do this as it was raining and I was working outside it's not necessary it's just supposed to make it easier) - This softens the glue, be careful to only heat mildly (use your hand to test).

2. Take fishing line or dental floss etc and loop round the badge and "cut" through the glue at the back of the badge using a sawing motion while pulling away from the car at the same time.

3. Peel off the tape with your fingers (badged are stuck on with what looks like double sided tape)

4. Take a soft cloth and soak with petrol, wipe off glue residue with the cloth

5. Clean off all the petrol with car shampoo / washing up liquid etc and allow to dry



Next job for me is to fit a new "egg box" grille, peel off the "volvo" emblems on the wheel caps and then paint them with black enamel plastikote and remove the "SIPS" sticker. I want to get the OEM spoiler when I can but it's not looking hopeful at the moment.

Took me like 5 minutes to debadge the back of my car maybe 10 minutes at most. And that is taking them off, getting rid of the gunk cleaning the spots and waxing/polishing the spots.

if your car's paint is great but not excellent, would this project also require a buffing to make sure the paint tones are the same?

Just remove them and wash the area, clay bar the area, polish the area and wax the area. You should be fine.
