View Full Version : Wind Noise?
Steamroll9 12-22-2004, 05:48 PM it's me again! LOL I was actually driving my car and didn't have the radio blasting, I noticed quite a bit of wind noise coming from both of the windows. I can hear it over 60MPH, and i can REALLY hear it over 70MPH. If I roll down the window a little bit, and roll it back up, it will whistle for a little while, then stop, but the wind noise is still rather bad.
Is this common or supposed to be this way? It's rather anoying and would def like to try and find someway to stop it. replace the fuzzy seals? My car is still under warranty.
Also, have a sunroof rattle problem. from what i've read on other forums, this is a very common problem. anybody else had any experience with this problem? did the dealer take care of it?
Thanx for the help!!!!!!!!!
2002 Volvo C70 Coupe
Take it to the dealer and complain the windows have to be adjusted. There should be no problem with them getting it fixed.
fh101 01-25-2005, 08:24 PM I have the exact same problem with my 2002 C70 Coupe. It happens on both the driver and passenger side EVERY time I open the windows. However, opening and then closing the doors usually fixes the problem (until the next time the windows come down). Any luck with getting the dealer to adjust them?
Steamroll9 01-31-2005, 01:25 PM took it to the dealer and they tightened the lock acctuators(i believe that what they are called). basically the thing that holds the door tighter to the car(i believe).
still have wind noise though, it really depends on which way the wind is blowing and which direction my car is traveling in relation to the wind. it's very anoying if i roll down the window and roll it back up, because it takes about 2 min for it to forma seal again and it makes a horrible wind/whistleing noise. i shouldn't have any wind noise in a luxury car with only 20k miles on it. will have them look at it again when i take it in next, which will be soon because they are replacing my sunroof rails.
anyone else get their rails replaced? if so, did the rattleing stop? or will i have to keep tightening them myself?
They definitly did the wrong thing. They adjusted the door striker instead of the window like they should have.I would make sure you complain alot when you go back.As far as the sunroof rails when they install the new ones you should be fine. The screws with the new ones come with loctite on them and they shouldn't come loose again.
blac70 07-12-2005, 06:40 PM would they fix that 4 free out of warranty if i complained enough??? stealership rates are ridiculous. the stealership actually held my car for 2wweks till my warranty expired for the rear window seal cracking. big argument b/c i made an appt and they didn't touch it for 1 1/2 weeks. my guy doesn't work there anymore so i went from prefferential treatment to total bunk and pain.
Factory warranty does not cover squeaks, rattles, and etc after the first year. The wind noise is poor seals around the windows. When one puts the window down a bit and then back up..............with the door closed...........the nose generally abates. BMW has a product that is called Gummiphlege that helps immensely in the winter. The sun roof rattle quite frankly is not the sun roof but most generally the sun shield. Trying to stop that rattle is impossible! You have probably found by now that a c70 is not the best engineered auto but its saving grace is the straight line performance..............it certainly cannot handle like a BMW with its front wheel drive, and the second saving grace is the outstanding appearance................which is the only reason I keep mine. Very few of them on the road and so it always looks refreshing.

agreed!
but what about the wet seatbelts, window frame seal?
The wind noise comes from the window not being adjusted properly.
Most techs are to lazy to get it adjusted properly.
blac70 07-28-2005, 11:44 AM windows adjusted how, maybe i can do it myself? also i can see that the window frame is off a bit from the car in the drivers side rear window. do you think that stuffing it with a bit of tar or stripping would solve this or cause more problems. the dealership didn't want to touch this. the body shop they are contracted with wouldn't touch it either. thanx
You can adjust it some.It is kind of a pain but you can do it.
What year is your car?
Is it a coupe or vert?
blac70 07-31-2005, 03:02 PM 2001 coupe
no pain no gain.......................
I was asking the year because the early year coupe had a recall on the rear windows.
blac70 07-31-2005, 08:29 PM how would i go about adjusting the window??
You have to remove the door panel. Then look on the bottom of the door There will be a nut on a stud with torxes in the end of the stud. Those are the adjustment screws.Loosen the nut and turn one way to move the window out and the other to move it in closer to the car.
blac70 08-01-2005, 04:55 PM thank you, i'll give it a shot.
