Showroom New plastic trim bumper dye review
My 2001 xc70 has the blue-gray bumpers and trim that have faded and are scratched. I just bought 2 bottles of " Showroom New " and dyed all of the exterior plastics. I opened all the doors and continued with the dye application into the cabin area & got on the creeper and did the trim under the car. A little much I know, but I'm a painter by trade and didn't want to waste any of the dye.
Prep work: Since I had several scratches and deep gouges I decided to sand these areas with 400 grit paper then I washed all areas and let it dry.
Dye application: With the car parked in the shade, I applied the Showroom New with a disposable foam paint brush. (Directions recommend taping off the trim area, but I did not. I have a steady hand until coffee time).
Results: I let the 1st coat dry for about 1 hour and was really impressed with the results. It looked so good I didn't need a second coat but just a few touch-ups on areas I had missed or allowed to streak. Since I don't have another car w/ gray trim, I did a second coat on the front bumper and I did touch-up on my console (ac and radio buttons).
Cost: 2) Showroom New 4oz. bottles $36.00, 2) foam brushes $1.59, 1) mini roller paint tray $1.99. LESS THAN $40.00 TOTAL and the car looks so good!
Time spent: 10 mins sanding, 30 mins washing, 2 hours total dye time.
FYI: I do not sell this products and will not rcve any compensation for this review.

auto trim
I will be doing my roof rack in a few weeks when it warms up. I forgot to do it last summer when I did the bumpers. I will be using the Showroom New product again on the plastic and I will post before and after pics. So far, the finish looks as good as the day I did it so I will use it on any gray plastic I have.....

On the bumpers/trim I use showroom dye and a few weeks later finish it off with wipe new. Beautiful.

Replacement for Showroom New
I have a 2004 V70 with dark gray trim. I used the Showroom New gray in 2011. It worked great, but I now want to do a re-application. But when I looked for it, it seems like they're no longer around.
Is Showroom New Gray available anywhere? If not, is there a comparable product available? Should I just paint the trim with Duplicolor Trim and Bumper Paint TB102? Is that a match? Thanks for any help

Try this Automotive Plastic Trim Restoration
From my experience dye works much better than paint for whatever reason.
