Default Are all Volvos still made in Sweden?

I figured that there would be some folks here that could answer this question. Are any models of Volvos made here in the US? I know many "foreign" makes have some models assembled either here in the US or Canada or Mexico. Any Mexican assembled models ? What about the heavy trucks and heavy equipment that you see everywhere here in California? Thanks

you know thats a very good question. I am sorry I am not able to give you a reply at the moment, but I have always wanted to know. Since the Ford took over Volvo in 1999, I have always wondered how this would affect where the volvos would be manufactred, and also whether the build quality would be affected

Volvo had a major plant in Belguim (not sure if they still do) that seemed to supply a large amount of global exported vehicles.
Here in Australia for example, pretty much all Volvos are belgium made.

Regards, Andrew.

2007 manufacturing Numbers:

SWEDEN:
Torslanda Plant, Gothenburg----------------193,370
Uddevalla (Pininfarina Sverige AB)-----------20,306

Others:
BELGIUM, Ghent----------------------------240,192
MALAYSIA---------------------------------486
THAILAND----------------------------------441
CHINA, Chongqing--------------------------6,313

Not all models are made in the same area. I think the V70 is one of the only models still made in Sweden???

Not sure what is made where but the VIN has a code in it that discloses the factory that the car was produced from. You can go to Volvo's site to check a VIN.
http://www.volvocars.com/us/tools/Ow...lvoOwners.aspx

Looking at the sheet below, possition 11 shows the factory that made a specific model: https://www.customers.volvocars.com/...C/vin2008.html

Pos. 10 - Model Year Code:
    Pos. 11 - Factory Code:
Pos. 12-17 - Serial (Chassis) Number:
1Note: Volvo Cars of North America, LLC Vehicle Identification Code (VIN) Decoder, 2008 Model Year.
All engine versions are 50 state vehicles except for engine version 39, (Partial Zero Emission Vehicles.)
