Frequently Asked Questions For New Volvo Owners...
I see a lot of questions asked over and over again from new site members. I am going to fill this post with these questions as they arise "again". If you have any suggestions or additions, feel free to post to it. I will come back from time to time to clean it up a little.
- CABIN AIR FILTERS: How do I check or replace my cabin air filter (850's and S/V70's)?
https://volvoforums.com/forum/volvo-...850-s70-48569/
- FUEL - GAS OCTANE: What fuel octane rating should I use?
https://volvoforums.com/forum/volvo-...-octane-41231/
https://volvoforums.com/forum/volvo-...uestion-51764/
https://volvoforums.com/forum/volvo-...ne-fuel-42387/
- MAINTENANCE QUESTIONS: I recently purchase a used Volvo, how should I take care of it?
https://volvoforums.com/forum/volvo-...uestions-9266/
- MILEAGE: How many miles can I expect to put on my Volvo?
If the oil is changed regularlly, you can easily put over 300,000 miles on your engine. The only motors that I know of that did not last as long were the V-6 motors in the Bertone.

- NEW CAR PURCHASE: I'm looking to purchase a used Volvo, what should I look for? (Mainly pertains to Volvos built in the 90's)
Buyer's guide - Volvo Forums - Volvo Enthusiasts Forum
- NEW CAR START UP: If you are getting a car that has been parked or stored for several months, you may want to read this before trying to start or drive the car.

- OWNERS MANUAL: I have a Volvo but no owners manual, where can I find one?
The Volvo company website has owners manual on-line, click here to view yours:
http://www.volvocars.com/us/top/your...s/default.aspx
- RADIO: The security feature of my radio needs the security code, where can I find it?
This applies to most factory radios installed in the 90's. SC-700's & SC-800's:
https://volvoforums.com/forum/volvo-...battery-52074/
- TRIM: How do I restore my bumper and other trim on my pre-2000 Volvo that have bumpers that are not painted?
Restoring Trim To Original Grey Color - Volvo Forums - Volvo Enthusiasts Forum
- TURBO: How can I tell if my car is turbo charged?

Maintenance Required by Owner-Clearing Sunroof Drains bi annually
That should be required reading by ANYONE who owns a Volvo with a Sunroof , because it is NOT mentioned in the owners manual. Is Not covered by warranty or the extended warranty.
It often catches newbie car owners off-guard because many of us own other cars whose sunroofs are NOT designed the same way Volvo has designed theirs. Plus if you park in sheltered / garaged parking normally and perhaps go on vacation when car is not parked under shelter you may experience problems if your drains are not clear and you experience heavy rains.

That's almost a new car. Make sure you have a warranty, and an extended one if you intend to keep it for a while.
Myself, I'd not buy a newer Volvo. After being a volvohaulic since 1986, Volvo today is a but a name only: made in China (if the first VIN letter is L), overly complicated, with a very poor maintenance history for recent models. The bling is there, as is the built in disposability, not your father's Volvo anymore--don't expect longevity unless you are ready to spend lavishly which by the way is the case with all Euro lux brands...
