Default A question of Transmission for the XC90

I am thinking about buying a XC90 2001-05, but after having done some reading on here it seems that a lot of people say steer clear of the car since there are major issues with the transmission (made by GM).

My question is this: Were the Xc90s found in other countries, of those years made with the same GM problematic transmission, if not then is it still a good buy?

I am looking to buy in Israel and suspect that the cars come from Europe and not the US.

Any help much appreciated, I did try contacting the main dealer here and they didn't know.

The T6 used the GM transmission. I think you will be okay if you just avoid the T6 in the affected years. I don't directly know the answer to your question, and that being the case, if I were you I would learn to recognize the transmissions by sight and then I would be able to make sure myself. But of course I love cars so I do not mind doing that sort of thing.
