S40 with p0017, should I chance it?
Considering buying an 01 s40 but it has a code present p0017. I want to buy it but not sure if it's safe to drive 70 miles home. It's a generic code for the crank position sensor, of course it can also be timing related. Timing belt was changed 30,000 miles ago and the code just now popped up. That leads me to believe that the vvt isn't causing it after an incorrect belt job because the code didn't show up for three years. Also leads me to believe the belt isn't stretched being relatively new. Anyway I don't mind chasing the issue but from what I've read the sensor is rarely the actual cause of the light. What do the pros think? Should I buy it and risk driving it home? Is there a good chance it's only the sensor?

Seller mentioned that it did stall out when coming to a quick stop occasionally, but fired back up. I'm assuming at best it needs the solenoid replaced and at worst I'll be doing a timing job and replacing the hub. Either way am I risking much driving it home? I'm familiar with Volvos but haven't messed with a 1.9t, what should I expect parts cost wise if it's the worst case scenario? The car is super clean but I don't want to be upside down on it if it does need everything above to remedy the issue.
