Anyone know where I can have this done. I have a 99, s80 t6. Just replaced my transmission, and still having the same problems I did before.

I'll be driving, and it drops in to 3rd gear, and does not come out unless I re-start the car. Sometimes even if the car is re-started it still doesn't come out of 3rd. I just had the tranny replaced, and the message center is displaying "transmission service required" and the srs-airbag service. check engine is on. After I had the tranny replaced the car drove fine, then one day I was driving and this happens.

Have the codes pulled to see where they lead you.

You think it could possibly be going in to a "safe mode?" Should I go to Volvo to have the codes pulled?

I would definitely have the codes pulled! It sounds like that there is more going on than just a transmission issue and you want to avoid doing any preventable damage

Yeah that's the goal. It sucks to have to continue investing money in to this car, but oh well.

That is to generic. They do not even match the car.

Someone that reads in Volvo codes needs to scan it. The Aw 50-52 on in the 5 cylinder cars and Motronic 4.3 is in 95 and 96 FWD 5 cylinder cars.

Ha that's weird. Well when I ran a check the first time I cleared the codes. The check engine came back on, for kicks I pulled the codes again. This time I got "p0756 shift solenoid B performance or stuck off." I was thinking since the tranny was rebuilt, and the guy that did it, most likely did not use OEM parts. It would be saying "performance" as if the non OEM parts are acting as performance. Or the guy didn't do a very good job in putting the tranny back together. Funny thing is that the idle sucks too, it jumps 500-to almost dead, then like 1100rpms. I don't understand why it wouldn't show me a code for that.

Something is wrong in the tranny. The solenoid is bad or something is wrong in the wiring.

Default P1618

You have to make sure you're getting the right codes....

Do some research and you'll see that a P1618 code means a hundred different things depending on the vehicle/Manf, etc. I've seen in one of these forums where the Admin/Mod dug a bit to find out that the aw 50w, etc code you mentioned meant something else. Generally I've seen that the P1618 is simply a manf control thrown to be able to pull a code from another unit. I'd have to do more research as to the codes/electronics in VADIS but I'd say that you have a trans issue and it's flagging it through a code and shutting the car down.

Dig dig dig and you'll get your answers... there are thousands of posts in forums from people having the exact same issues. After all, that's why we're here, to work together towards a common goal. Good luck!

Hey, I'm having the EXACT same problem...

Your throttle issue is due to the ETM recall. If you meet certain criteria you "may" be able to "attempt" to get them to switch yours out... best advice is to take it to Volvo to have the recall (the etm reprogrammed) and then completely clean the throttle body with carb cleaner. You will most likely have "less" issues with it but it is an issue with the mechanics of the ETM and not much you can do about it once it's gotten bad. You can by a contactless one but they run around $500ish.

As for the general issue with P0756...

I bought the car and drove it to Advance Auto to have the codes read off. Got them read, wrote them down, had them cleared... I drove the car about 100 miles before they came back on. Cleared them again... drove 350 before they came back on. It's a bit more frequent now but I have no issues driving the vehicle or ANYTHING, except that it's normally in 3rd gear and burns gas. I have no clue what do do now...

I figure I can yank the sensor out and replace it but most likely it's faulting for some reason. I can take it to Volvo and pay $89/hr to have them hook it up to VIDA and tell me the same thing I already know, except they'll just say you need a new trans and not tell me SPECIFICALLY what is wrong inside the trans, which I figure is worth the money I'm throwing at it. Or, I can yank the trans out and rebuild it myself and put new sensor's and such back in... I got the car for a great deal but I'm stuck now on what to do... I figure I could put a used trans in but I'd hate to have the other sitting around when there probably isn't much wrong with it....

what do we do now!?
