Vandals! (not the band, the jerks)
While I was at the gym on a Friday in Feb, someone broke into my car by smashing the back window. Since the the back windows are tinted, the glass didn't shatter so they pried the glass out of the door frame with a screwdriver. Stolen was a cheap purse, (12.99), that had absolutely nothing of value in it.
I have free glass on my auto policy so the window was covered for replacement. Good thing too, since the glass place told me that window costs over $400 bucks! Unfortunately, the paint's chipped off and the door is "bubbled" out where the screwdriver pried the glass out of the corner of the back passenger window. There are also a few scratches on the door that appeared from that incident.
That week at work was crazy and I got the glass replaced Monday. On Wed I received a distressed phone call from a woman who said she thought she'd bought a stolen ATV. She said there were stickers from our dealership on it, so I looked it up in our database. The vehicle had been sold out of our place, all right, but there was no way to see if it had changed hands since the original sale. I went online to a database for AZ and found out that the vehicle was stolen. I gave her the number of the police dept and told her to call and report it. The cops would confiscate the ATV once the reports were made. She was so scared she was going to get in trouble, but I told her she couldn't keep it or she'd be in more trouble.
On Friday, 1 week after the break-in of my car, I received a phone call on my cell. It was the detective handling my stolen purse/break-in case. He described some items, they were mine. He asked me if I worked at the motorsports dealership and I said, "yes". He asked more questions and eventually asked again if I worked at that specific dealership. I SAID YES! He told me that the lady I talked to on Wed gave sufficient enough information for the PD to serve a warrant on the stolen ATV seller's house and that's where they discovered my purse and belongings.
That's what I'm talking about.

Indeed Monsieur Mullet. Arrested and going to trial. I've never been a victim of a crime before, but in this county they send me updates every step of the process. I can even go speak at the trial. I'm thinking about pulling that parent/old lady talk where I tell this person, (who is older than me), that if she worked for her money she might not be so quick to steal other peoples' things etc.... I can get restitution, so maybe I should figure out how much it'd cost to fix my door and have this woman write me a check every month for $10 til the end of time... I should see if I can do that.

I called the Adult Probation case worker that contacted me via mail. I left her a message asking if I should get a quote on the car door and file for restituion against the defendent. I have like $500 deductibles for my insurance.
