S40 T5 Upgrades and results
Hi all
Hope you are well. It has been some time since I have been on this forum. I did some upgrades and would like to share the results with you. My car is a 2008 S40 T5. The upgrades I did was as follow :
1) Stock dyno result 146 WKW and 317 NM torgue on wheels.
2) Added polestar software. Power went up to 157 WKW and 353 NM on wheels. The biggest difference was however at about 3700 rpm where I gained 22 wkw and 40 nm torgue.
3) Added 76mm ATP downpipe and catfooler. Power went up to 168 wkw and 373 nm on the wheels. The biggest gain this time was at about 6000rpm where I now have 20 wkw more and 40 nm torgue more.
My next upgrade will be a bigger intercooler. Still investigating the market for a good one. The ATP intercooler with the Garret core seems to be looking good ( can handle up to 400 HP ), exchangerate is not good at this time for importing.........
I do however have one question. Will I gain much in the form of power if I change the backpart of the exchaust from the current stock 57mm and stock backbox to a 63mm freeflow system ? or will this only make the car louder ? I even heard some people say that they loose power when making the backpart freeflow...... I do not mind losing some torgue, but do not want to loose KW's.
Regards
Ouboet

Hi ouboet, i replaced it with a Cowley back box with a 63mm pipe from the 76mm downpipe. I got 9 wkw more after changing it. All i have done is downpipe, induction, turned the boost up on the actuator to 1bar and put a resistor in the o2 sesor in front by the intercooler. i have still to do software and i got 155 wkw and 342nm. cant wait for the software upgrade.
