thanks for the input...the heater core is not the culprit as originally thought. A few drops of water would be on the floor on the driver side about once a month. Not equivalent to the amount of antifreeze being consumed. The car is in the shop once again and I hope to find out something in a few hours. I had to get a lawyer involved because the other shop changed my alternator and did not do any engine work like we originally agreed. UGH!! will keep you posted. I plan to have the engine overhauled to get rid of any doubt
Hey, it's not a bother at all.
I think the guy that did the diagnostic is probably correct about the valve stem seals. I had bluish smoke at idle on my 850 when the valve stem seals were bad. Soon as I replaced them it got rid of all the smoke at idle. I would of thought head gasket but since the loss of coolant was from the heater core and not the gasket, that eliminates that issue.
Shop around for a good indie to do the job. My dealer told me it would cost between $2.5-$3k for the job and my friend who's also indie tech did the job for much cheaper!
With your PCV system, that shouldn't cause any smoke out of your exhaust. If it gets plugged up you will have smoke come through your dip stick and it will also force oil past the seals in the engine due to the built up pressure.
If you've never had the PCV replaced, it would be a good time to have that done while you're replacing the valve stem seals.
