Another new guy from Minnesota
Hey all, figured I would join up here. Just got my first Volvo.
history:
a whole bunch of VW's (4-MK1's, 3-MK2's, 1-MK4), a couple Audi's (1- Coupe GT, 1-TT 225) a few BMW's (2 E30 325is', 1 E30 318is) and a half dozen other misc cars.
I do a lot of wrenching, the only thing I don't do is rebuild transmissions, weld, or soldering.
Just picked up this baby
1994 850 turbo odo stopped working at 185k in 2007. so literally unknown miles.
Got it for stupid cheap. Less than what I sold a rusty bad head gasket e30 for.
Items I am addressing immediately... like... this weekend:
-PCV kit
-new brakes all around
Items I need fairly soon:
-drivers side door handles, both
-bits of trim here and there
-figure out the deal with a MBC a P/O installed. either need to return to stock or upgrade the ECU to allow more boost. I hate fuel cutoff.

I have always liked em, this one just kind of fell into my lap at the right time (wife was needing a new car, family in the plans within the next year or so, etc)
This past weekend I replaced all sorts of bits of trim, door handles, and also did the rear brakes. One rear caliper had a sticky cylinder, brought one pad down to the backing and was severely eating away at it, other pad had a good 3/8" to go. 1 new caliper, new rotors and pads later and it's quiet and stops smooth. Love it.
The more I drive it the more I want to sell my other e30 and get another 850 wagon. If only I could find a 5 speed locally to swap into one...
Thursday might be the day I do the PCV system, then I'll probably hand the keys over to the wife to be her main car. Right now she is driving a Lincoln Town Car which has been a backup car for whenever I had to fix something on a daily car.
