Hello from the Bluegrass State
I just caught the fever for the safe - reliable auto called Volvo. A long time friend and mechanic of mine recently purchased his third Volvo after being a GM addict for nearly 40yrs. Now we are both looking for project cars, I'm looking for a wagon for my wife's daily driver.
My long time friend is looking to do a blinding quick Turbo-Brick. I am 50 yr. old and retired early in SOKY (S. Kentucky).
1 wife of 32 yrs. of happiness+ togetherness / High School sweetheart, 2 daughters 27 and 25 yrs. old, 1 Yellow Lab 10 yrs. old, 1 Boston Terrier Bulldog 4 yrs. old, + 1 painted turtle 7 yrs. old. and our first grand baby coming in January!!! We do antique cars mostly Buicks ( family loyalty since the 1930's ) Windows Media
Any suggestions on building a Turbo-Brick?
What percentage of Volvo built are station wagons? Take note as you travel the vast numbers of these buggies cruizing our
highways.
Sincerely Yours,

RE: Hello from the Bluegrass State
We live in the Bowling Green area (home of the Corvette). Since I'm new to Volvo I am looking for ideas: the 850 & V70 look llike they are rock solid what about the All-Wheel Drive handling of the XC70? Why do these cars only get 24mpg, my friends '96 Buick "Roadmonster" knocks down 23-27mpg highway with the 5.7 Corvette engine for power.
Sincerely,

RE: Hello from the Bluegrass State
Live up the road in E'town. XC70 AWD is a great car. They generally wont get as good gas mileage as a FWD. An older 240 or 740 is easy to mod. V70/850 would be fine as it is FWD and will handle fine in what little winter weather we get. Friend of mine across the street has a 96 850 wagon with turbo. It's red with black leather interior. I'm pretty sure it's for sale. If you're interested let me know and I'll see what he's asking.
