Workhorse 1991 740 Wagon - Parts or Repair (I hope repair!) South NJ
Looking to sell my beloved 1991 740 (ideally) to someone who will repair it, not break it down for parts!

Over 430,000 miles
Current Inspection good through 11/2016
Clean Title
I love this car – she is a workhorse and very reliable. Starts every time and runs well. It’s been driven on a daily basis and has been across the country twice. For the last 7 months it has been driving 120 miles, 5 days per week and has done great.
Car currently needs front-end work and until it is fixed it cannot be safely driven. If you buy it you have to have it towed from its current location in Southern NJ. If you purchase it you acknowledge you understand it is not in drivable condition.
I can’t afford to fix it anymore, but this is the perfect car for someone who loves Volvo’s and who has a little money to put into it and wants a safe, reliable vehicle.
To get it driving again:
The left rear spring is breaking and pushing through the body. An auto body shop is needed to repair this. I was told the car will need a new panel and someone who knows what they're doing. This is not something that can be simply "patched" because it affects the safety of he car.
Left side tie rod end and the steering arm need to be changed.
History:
Regular oil changes fewer than every 3,000 miles with original Volvo oil filters.
Original engine and transmission
Car has never been in an accident
I bought the car in 2008 from a mechanic who took beautiful care of it. Had the timing belt changed right after as a precaution. No other problems until 2010.

Inside of the Car:
The interior is clean but old and parts of it do not look or function like they used to.
The headliner is falling down. There is a rip on the left side of the back of the driver’s seat. "Pocket" in the driver's door is cracked and broken.
What works:
Heat
Front and rear defroster
All vents
3rd “weather” light
Radio
Cigarette lighter
Wipers
What doesn’t work:
Odometer
Speedometer
A/C
Tape Deck in Radio
Antenna does not go up electronically (radio works fine with antenna down).
Rear windshield wiper works intermittently
Outside of the Car:
Clean. Never been in an accident.
The “trunk” (5th door) does not open from the outside anymore, but it can be opened from the inside.
5th door also does not stay open independently and needs to either be fixed or propped up with something.
It has rust spots around the roof rack and a line of rust along the side quarter panel. (less than 6 inches long – see pic). Bits of rust at the front of the hood as well.
If you love old Volvo’s this is the car for you. She is not beautiful but she is a workhorse and easily has life left in her if you have the time and money to put in.
