Cool...Also, I have an issue with smoke at idle. It is only at idle and after it has warmed up. Driving normal, never an issue. Any idea what that could be? I am fairly certain it is not valve seals or any other valve related issue. I was in the engine pretty deep when I purchased the car and it looked great.
Are you 100% sure about that? When I was swapping engine from my T-5R to my Turbo Wagon. Both cars are 1995, but the electrical was different. The harnesses were different. Ground points were in different locations, Plugs were in places where there werent plugs on the other car. Totally different harnesses. Now maybe that was due to one being a T-5R but I in no way wanted to risk using the other harness in the wagon so I disconnected everything from the engine/trans instead of just releasing the harness at the ECU box. Maybe it can be done, I dont have experience in that area but this I know, the harnesses were seriously different. Double and triple check before you start plugging ECU's in.
I kept the same harness that was in the wagon from the start. Meaning, I replaced the engine and trans but left all the wiring in the car and plugged it back into the new parts. The engine and trans have the same sensors, etc so it all plugged back in. What I worry about is the rest of the harness. My harness had an additional plug mounted to the drivers headlight bucket and the main ground was attached to the fender. I could not find the main ground in the T5 and it did not have the additional harness and plug. They were way different. Maybe everything is routed to the correct pins in the ECU but maybe not. I would look at the numbers and try to get the same number to replace it with. Another option is IPD, they knew the ECU's very well and at one point said I could swap with another number. They may know the answer here.
I too noticed the smoke issue you mentioned in your post. It feel like a smoke screen when I drive the car in the morning after few minutes of warm up. Interestingly, no such smoke is noticed rest of the day.
