Default A/C Blower Motor bad?

I have a 98 V70 GLT that has an issue with the A/C blower motor I believe. The A/C blows ice cold but after driving awhile (maybe 30miles) the blower motor (I think) starts to get very noisy and the level of air coming from the vents is decreased. When I try to manually increase the blower speed on the control the level of noise from the motor increases as well, but still have little air coming out. Could the motor and or resistor pack be bad? Is it overheating possibly after being on for awhile. Anyone else experience this? Thanks in advance for any help.

Sounds like the Low pressure switch is bad and the Evaperator is freezing up.

When that happens again quick open the hood and see if the pipes going into the car are frozen.

Hi -

Any idea where that low pressure switch is? This sounds like the same probalem I have on my 2000 V70 XC.

Thanks,

brian

I don't know if the 2000 is the same as the '99, but this is where the pressure switch is located on my 99 V70. It's probably in a similar location, I'd expect. By the way, I replaced mine when I was working on the A/C, but I don't think it really needed replacing. I ordered it from www.eEuroparts.com for about $80. Check there for your car, if the part number is: A/C Pressure Switch (8628563), let me know and I'll send you my old one which is probably still working. Here's the location of the switch.

Btw, in that picture, the switch was already disconnected, but that's where it plugs in.

The low pressure switch is in the pipe at the firewall.
The one in the pic is the high pressure switch.

Thanks, tech! That's why it's great to have you back from vacation. I could have figured that out if I'd traced through the diagram (you don't have high pressure through the evaporator!). Oh well, thanks for the correction - here's my corrected pic for completeness.
