1985 Volvo 240 Broken Headlight Switch
Hi Everyone,
So my headlight switch started getting loose and now it completely fell apart. The cap separated from the switch and the bell housing is still attached somehow. I have removed everything but the bell housing inside the dash. It turns about an 1/8th of an inch both ways so I am assuming it is held on by some kind of nut. I was told the nut would be behind the **** once you pull it off but its not. So I am assuming its on the dark other side that I can't even see what the deal is. I don't feel any kind of nut back there so I am unsure how to remove the rest. PLEASE HELP!!! I have no lights and a new switch on the way and I know I have to get this old bell housing out!!!
THANKS>

Ok, so if you take off the headlight and dimmer **** and gently pry off the plastic fascia plate there should be a metal bracket held on by two screws that the shaft from each switch passes through. The nut is on the shaft just behind that bracket. I'm nearly positive there is no other fastener involved. With the nut removed, the switch should just push out through the back of the dash. There's nothing on the backside face of the switch except a locating "dowel".
