Default 1988 Volvo 240DL

I'm 18 and recently purchased this car. I've done a lot of work to it, in terms of getting it back to a functional state. It still needs a lot more work though. Anyway, I've come to the point where I'm absolutely fed up with the stock AM/FM radio. It doesn't always work and it often will just shut off. Is it possible to put a new radio in? It looks difficult because the radio is attached to the plastic trim around. Do you think a place like Best Buy could help out?

Any advice is muchly appreciated.

if i am correct, is your radio mounted above the heating vents on your upper dash. if so, the plastic trim should be removible. just take the radio out and the screws are on the sides. i have a cr-712 radio from a 1989 240 in my car that i just installed b/c i liked it better than the stock 1991 radio in my 240. if yours is the same model then it definitely can be replaced. if you go with another stock radio, the trim can be used to mount the other radio if its stock. if you go after market radio, they have aftermarket mounting kits for the 240. one place they have them is on ebay. if you have any more questions as i have dealt with the radios in 240's let me know.
