Default 1993 Volvo 940 AC problems

Hello,

I have a 93' Volvo 940 with 120k miles on it. The AC went out on it last week and we have been pretty stumped as to the problem. or the fix.

1. We checked the pressure on the system and the high side pegged our gauge. Which is strange.

2. We know the compressor works fine because when we bypassed the system and ran the battery right to the compressor it fired right up and blew cold air.

3. We checked the fuses in front of the shifter (strange place to have them!) and they looked fine.

4. we tested the electrical system and could not find where the break down is.

The only thing we can think to do is take the dash off and check the wires behind the control switch. we don't really want to do this but it might be the only option.

any suggestions would be great!

Drew
