Weak Spark

Weak Spark
Hi, I have a 1993 240 wagon, and today it just decided to shut down on me. I replaced the easiest thing that I could think of, the 60A ignition fuse, and it started right up, but I think the walk to the parts store let whatever the real problem was cool down, it repeated after I got to my next destination (appropriately a cemetery) where it died again. I walked to a parts store, and got a non-bosch coil and put it in, but the spark it produces is VERY weak out of the coil wire, and doesn't even register on the plug wires, I'm just using a test light, but nothing on the plugs. Can anyone give me some advice on where to go from here? Do you think there's a chance that I just bought a bum coil?
Thanks for your help!

Turns out it wasn't popping codes at all, it was the voltage amplifier (?), that crapped out, I gave it a full tune up (-plugs) nothing, and finally had it towed to the shop, where it took them about 5 minutes to look at what I had done, and check other possibilities, they had a used voltage amplifier they use for diagnostics, they plugged in and it fired right up, the only minus being it was a pricey part. I don't generally endorse businesses, but Vol Tech in Portland has been good for support and advice, and service when I couldn't actually figure it out myself.
Thanks for the pointers!
