Default 740 GL NOISEY new brake pads

Just want to thank you all for the wonderful advice I've received by reading these posts...have usually been able to fix past problems myself with the help of this forum.
Current problem-the mechanic installed new brake pads on the rear of my car. For the first 4 days there would be an EAR PIERCING squeal whenever I applied even the slightest amount of pressure. I figured that maybe some sort of brake pad 'coating' had to wear off. Now, whenever I brake it sounds as if I'm braking a transit authority bus; LOUD disconcerting moan. The mechanic told me it's because the pads I had him install were 'inexpensive'. I installed the same pads on the front without this problem.
Any help would be most appreciated...Thanks

Install Volvo pads and it will stop the noise.

Same thing happened to us, find out the rotors should not have been turned, they needed to be replaced. I guess from what this Volvo guy says here (we just moved) you never turn rotors on a Volvo, only replace them. Old Volvo guy says that is crap. No squeaking now and he showed me the pads, they were not making full contact and were uneven
