Default Adjusting the Clutch Pedal

Some advise on clutch pedal adjustment needed. My clutch engages really high on the clutch pedal, and I tried to adjust the free-play today (and failed miserably).

Is there supposed to be a gap between the clutch pedal and the pedal stop?

The Bentley manual suggests to:
Check clutch free-play by lifting the clutch pedal against the pedal stop...
Clutch free-play specifications: At pedal (pulling up) 10 – 15 mm

By 'lifting' I'm guessing they mean 'pull towards you', and by 'clutch pedal' they mean the entire 'clutch pedal and arm'. It's the arm that touches the pedal stop. I can't pull my clutch pedal towards me. It's dead against the pedal stop.

Is there supposed to be a gap between the clutch pedal and the pedal stop?

Thank you and Happy Holidays,

--san

Bumping this post because I have the same question and thought it'd be easier than posting a new topic. I am trying to adjust my clutch right now, but can't seem to get it to be able to be "pulled up". My clutch engages really high on the pedal. I barely push it down and it starts to engage, so I'm hoping that by adjusting it the transmission starts running smoother and stop slipping out of gear so I don't have to change my clutch.

On my own cars, it is a matter of trial and error. I like the friction point on my clutches quite low, nearly to the floorboard. Tall clutches drive me crazy. I assume you both have mechanical, cable clutches as opposed to hydraulic? Just jack the car up, put a jack stand under the driver front a-frame and start moving the cable. You'll need to loosen the keeper nut first. Just keep turning the adjuster until it feels right to you.

Default Clutch pedal too high (Volvo s40 T4,not a tractor)

I am a new Volvo owner and a new member of this forum,so hi all.It is a '98 s40 T4 in mint condition but I am not used to a high clutch pedal. The clutch is hydraulically controlled.I have tried lowering the pedal by releasing and turning the push rod of the master cylinder but it stays on the same level. It is important to me becoyse when I change gear I feel like I am driving a tractor.
And something else. The sygnall light of the O2 sensor somethimes goes on.The computor showed that the problematic sensor is the first one.Ihave cleaned it with petroll over night, dryed it the next morning and burned it with a torch light.I also found a detached vakuum line which I fixed. But the sygnall light still goes on when a misfire ocures and staus on for a period (cabels and coils due for change).
Greetings from Macedonia.

this is the redblock RWD 240/740/940 section, S40's and other new models each have their own sections.

also, please don't piggyback a new car and problem onto a 3 year old thread, start a new thread.
