Default airbags and dash clusters

hi, i'm new to the forum. our family has been driving 240's for a number of years, mostly 70's and early 80's models.
we just bought a running 90 244 and a 93 245 parts car. the airbag light was out on the 90 244, and i swapped the two controls (or power unit and control?) under the drivers seat, plus the instrument cluster out, of the 93 parts wagon. The light on the wagon was working fine - it was coming on for 10 seconds if i didn't start the car, coming on for 4 or 5 seconds if i did start.
so now i have the airbag light at the dash, but it stays on all the time. tomorrow i'm going to try resetting the codes. i've never done that.
i was wondering for one thing if there is anything else i should be swap out of the 93, and for another thing, am i going down the wrong path swapping the 93 dash cluster into the 90 vehicle?
any help much appreciated. have to do all this to pass an inspection.

update on the srs light - i have the light, and when i ground the srs terminal it goes out - tried this multiple times, and twice the light flashed on and off four times, but nothing else happened. light soes not go off when the motor is running.
i've cleaned up the alternator connections (brushes too) and have cleaned all the fuse terminals and installed clean brass/ceramic fuses. battery terminals and lines off positive terminal are clean.
the front seat is out - does this matter?
tomorrow i'll check the seat belt contacts and probably try the original dash again.
anybody know if there's anything else in the circuit that i should be checking?
thanks for any help

i'm in georgia, got the car in tennessee, and it has a "rebuilt' title.
here in ga they want an inspection before registering the car. the rebuild, body-wise, was some welding where the front left bumper attaches, plus new sheet metal.
the inspector is fine with that. but he wants to see the srs light come on and go off before he'll pass the car. i've done searches and checked the bentley manual but still i'm sort of groping through it, and trying not to set of the fing airbag in the process.

disconnect the battery ground cable, and wait 10 mins before messing with SRS wiring, and it CANT go off.

you need at least 5 minutes (10 mins to be safe) for the capacitor in the SRS controller to dissipate its charge. after that, its failsafe.

an update on this thread - i found that the contact reel and it was broken - no tension on the spring.
got a readable code (5 flashes, resistance too high) after shorting the srs terminal to the lighter about five times.
recleaned all the wiring contacts - the yellow plug contacts were discolored slightly so that may have been a problem. anyway now the light works.
