The Car is a 1990 Volvo 740 GLE 8Valves... It has the check engine Light on and I'm getting low MPG These are the codes that showed up: 321,223,221... What do i have to do is it something I can do Myself Any Help Would Be Appreciate it Thanks In Advance??????????

221 - Lambda Sond signal absent or faulty
223 - Idle control valve signal absent or faulty
321 - Signal to cold start valve short circuited to ground or missing

That is the description of the 3 codes. Knowing that your gas mileage is terrible any one of those things could cause that, I'm just not sure all 3 are really problems. Have you tried to clear the codes and then see what returns? I would do that first and then see what you get. Have you checked your fuel pressure regulator to see if it's leaking?

 

I reset the codes and still getting the same codes is this 3 things are sensors

What do you think it could be the problem on spending so much gas and what needs to be replaced thnaks for your answer???????????

 

Have you checked the connections to the 3 items that are listed as faults? I would also check the wiring at the connectors to make sure the insulation isn't cracked. With 3 items faulting like this, all of which are faulting due to absent signals or short to grounds, I'm more inclined to think you've got a wiring problem or maybe even a bad connection at your ECU. I would check and clean all grounds and connections to all of the components and let us know if the codes return after you do that.

 

If you could tell me where are these items located exactly I will do it myself and clear the codes cause I don't know where are theses sensors???
Also is this symptoms part of the problem that I have When I'm at a stop light the engine start vibrating heavily (but the engine doesn't turn off) then the engine stop vibrating and calms itself...Also Sometimes the car Runs perfectly and accelerate perfect but sometime the cars start accelererating very lazy as it the engine if putting so much force into it, but very lazy; the car has new timing belt the car is on time, has recently put fuel filter, air filter, cleaned throttle body...
