Default Current 1993 240 or New 1989 240!?

Hello there! Im delving into the Volvo scene here. I've had a 1993 240 for about a year. Ran off and on. Due to scheduling conflicts, I haven't been able to work on her much. Just got her started about two weeks ago. Its been pretty rough. (New battery, spark plugs, rotor & rotor cap, switched out a bunch of fuses, cleaned the MAF). Running rough, and as I've researched, is pretty typical. - - Sometimes does not start and idles choppy.

Will need to completely redo the suspension, along with the exhaust system. Additionally, its looking like something with the fuel intake system (I'm thinking or something along those lines because of the rough starting and idle...Possibly a new MAF. The whole move the shifter got her started the other day.) Oh! And there is an oil leak somewhere.

There is rust in some spots but it looks superficial.

- - -

So, here is my dilemma; do all of the work on the 1993 OR buy a 1989 240.

- - -

The 1989 has had one owner (elderly lady) and has apparently kept it in decent shape. Regular visits to the Volvo shop with all of the work ever done accounted for. Miles 220636. No rust, pictures look decent. Asking for 2500.
I'm off to give her a gander...

What shall I do!?!? Stick with my current '93 or give the '89 a go!?!? (The '89 sounds very tempting!)

For that price, I would jump on the 89 240. Our 1990 240 has been a very smooth dependable car
