Do I really have to spend $100.00 on an ignition coil?

Do I really have to spend $100.00 on an ignition coil?
I seem to have a problem with the ignition coil on my '90 240 wagon. The coil wire won't stay seated, and in looking down into the coil, it looks damaged.
I was shocked, however, when my local parts house quoted $110.00 for a coil. I hate to be cheap, but that's more than 1/8 of what I paid for the car (although it's a fine, strong running 240). I can't seem to find an alternative; is there one?

I don't wanna take a chance. I purchased a volvo ignition coil online and installed it myself.
