HELP! Lost AW70 shift linkage parts while driving!
When I pulled my '93 245 into my driveway this afternoon and I moved the automatic shift lever to "Park," I noticed there was zero resistance in the lever and no gear detents. When I let the brake go, the car moved forward, still in "Drive." I jacked the car up and took a look at the linkage and noticed that the transmission side was totally disconnected. There's just an adjuster sleeve with an empty threaded hole on one end.
Here's a pic of what I think is supposed to be there. Does anyone know what these parts are called or where to get them? I'm basically stuck without it.

cheapest place to get them would be off another volvo with the same AW70/AW71 (which is almost any 240/740/940 except a 16V has a AW72 with different gear ratios, (optimized for the higher revving 16v engine)
I could look up the pn's for new parts, they are probably available from volvo dealers still.

no idea myself, I've never had that break on me.
hey, this is the page from VADIS for a 1993 240 Wagon with the AW70 automatic. the linkage doesn't quite look like what you showed above. It does seem like you could pretty easily replace this with a steel pin and cotter, or similar.
I looked up a bunch of the part numbers in the 63-66 range, and the control rod 57, they all seem available at www.tascaparts.com

It's part #59 in the diagram. The guy at the parts counter realized that the diagram is backwards. It shows the adjusting sleeve on the shift lever side when it should be on the transmission side. I thought about replacing the sleeve with a clevis or a rod end but I have no idea what thread pitch the end of the control rod is. For now, I think I'll replace it with a junkyard linkage, but I might design a more robust connection for it in the future. I understand why it's pinned (so the adjuster sleeve can rotate without disconnecting the pivot) but it's a pretty weak connection for such a crucial component.

The Volvo documentation is wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong. I've done quite a bit of research and all evidence points to the diagrams in all of the manuals being reversed. Even the pic I posted is one I swiped off the net, not my transmission, and it shows the adjuster sleeve on the transmission side, not the shifter side.

Update: After waiting for a few days with no change to my order status from Tasca, I sent them a message. My order's been held up because they're waiting for Volvo to send them the part. I told them Volvo doesn't make the part anymore. They said, that would explain the delay. So, I'm back to square one. I'll have to come up with a solution on my own. I'll report back if I find something that works. There has to be somebody else out there who's had this happen to them.

I don't know how to post original question so if I may....my 89 240 wouldnt go into gear after about 20 minutes in creeping traffic. The engine just reved but no movement. I turned the engine off for about 20 minutes and when I turned it back on, the gears went right in and I was able to drive home in city traffic.
Thank you for your consideration. (I,d also like tto know how to post so I dont barge in like this, my apologies)
