Default Battery help for buddy in Iraq

Hello, new here and trying to help my best bud who is in Iraq right now.
My bud has a 1978 Volvo wagon. The battery has gone dead from sitting and his wife needs to get the smog deal done in a month or so.
I want to get it back on the road but since they are about 100 miles from me I would like to get a battery from my local guy and not have to look around for one in an unfamiliar area.
Problem is I don't know what model the Volvo is to get a battery size.
The wagon isn't the typical type. This one has the "chopped top" look like a Bertone. Also it is a 4 cylinder automatic.
Any one here that can help me determine what battery this one takes?

Thanks in advance.

Since it's "not the typical type" a photo or at least some more clues might be helpful..

I contacted my buddy and he said it would use the same battery as any 1978 245.
I've looked on several auto parts sites for a battery size but none go back to 1978.

Well if the local guy is any good he should know what battery goes in the car.

It's a size 24. When you get the battery and get it inspected, disconnect the battery when it gets parked. The battery will stay charged a long time as long as it is disconnected.
