Default How do you know which ECU will work for you?

Is there a series that only works for certain years of 240's? Are they Model specific? What do you look for to make sure it'll work for your volvo, what do you need to know? I plan on going to a junk yard to find a replacement ECU for my 91 240 and don't wanna get stuck with one that's no good for my car.

Your 91 will have LH2.4 so you will want to find a LH2.4 ECU/ICU.

IF you are turbo'd, then you will need to find a turbo ECU/ICU.
IF you are NA'd, then you will need to find a NA ECU/ICU.
Also keep in mind if you have EGR...etc.

Read carefully.....
This list was taken from Fredrik over at Turbobricks.com (this is from the chipping FAQs Some ECU might not be listed)
LH2.4

240 Saloon (P242, P244) - 2.3 i CAT 08.88-07.90 115HP B230F
240 Estate (P245) - 2.3 i CAT 08.88-07.90 115HP B230F

EZ 116 K (Ignition ECU):

0 227 400 140
0 227 400 169

All EZK´s are not "chippable". You have to open them up to check for a chip-socket on a daughter card mounted on the motherboard.
These EZK´s are not suitable for turbo or F+T without "chipping".

Look on the on you have, it probably ends in 561, match those numbers up and you're good to go. They are plug and play so test it before you leave. There are issues with moisture getting into one of the chips over time even when not in use, so store it somewhere dry.

I've heard that you can use the 951 series ECU to replace the 561 is this true?

Also what if anything will happen if you try a 951 instead of a 561 in the car?

I have the pink label 561 ECU that I hear is rumored to fail and be replaced by the white label ECU.

Default Which ECU for 1993 940T Wagon?

I've got the old unit out and it is BOSCH 0-280-000-937

My parts supplier tells me that the 1993 940T Wagon takes either
0-280-000-563 (w/EGR)
or
0-280-000-967 (w/o EGR)

I had guessed I would need the 563 and ordered it thinking I had a 50-50 chance, but when I took the old unit out it didn't match either possibility. When I look up 937, one post said it goes with the earlier 740 model.

I'm told that to look for the EGR I have to go under the car, but I don't have any jack stands handy, so any advice you have would be helpful.
