Default How do you reset service light in 240?

Hi,
How do you reset the service light that goes on every 5k miles? Is it difficult? It's a 1990 240 DL. Thanks for your help

There is a switch on the back of the instrument cluster behind the speedometer. You can reach up behind the dash to get to the switch, just slide it up and down and the light will reset. It may be a little hard to find on your first time, but just feel around for it. You can see the switch below in the pic on the right side of the white gauge in the middle. Good luck.

Thank you, and especially thanks for the picture. Now I know what to look for. I tried pushing the reset button in the control cluster but that did not work. I'll try feeling for the switch. I am very grateful for your help.

I just got back from trying to reach the switch. How do I reach it? It seems that when I try to put my arm behind the panel, there are plastic things and other fabric things in the way. I was on my knees trying to reach behind it but I could not. Is there a special technique? How did my mechanic do it in the past?

Ok, just to clarify you want to be reaching up from under the driver's side foot well. You will need to remove the two plastic clips holding the carpet piece in place. Pull the carpet piece down and you should be able to look up into the dash and see a relatively clear path. The pic below is a view straight up into the dash; the end of the red line indicates the location of the switch.

It might be a bit difficult to locate the first time, but keep feeling around in the area of the switch and you will find it. The alternative would be pulling the cluster out of the dash to get to it, but that is a chore for everytime you want to reset the light.

Thank you very much, especially for the photo. I'll attempt it tomorrow because it's pouring outside. I'll post tomorrow to let you know how it went.
