Multiple Problems - 1986 245 DL
Hey, I am having about 5 different minor issues with a 240 I recently bought. We have cleared up several of the other issues, but I will list them in order of importance and list all that we have replaced/checked at the end.
1. Speedometer/Temp gauge are both intermittent. Sometimes they work, most of the time they don't. Often the temp gauge will go all the way to the top. I feel like these two problems are related as there is also some issues with the lighting in the instrument panel sometimes cutting off randomly.
2. Sputtering/backfiring problem: The car starts great, idles great, and then it will have a sputtering problem after initial acceleration. Accelerates fine the first time, but when the rpms drop back down it's almost as if they drop down too far, and when I accelerate again the car acts as if it is having to catch up, sputtering and backfiring.
3. Gap/miss in the acceleration: Only once during a trip will this occur but what happens is when I accelerate heavily after a stop, such as turning left after a stop sign or something, it's like the gas pedal just stops working for a second and then kicks back in. It's really odd.
Alright, so if you have any suggestions on any of those, it would be great. Here is a list of everything I have replaced and checked:
Replaced:
MAF sensor
spark plugs and wires
distributor
air filter
all fan belts and timing belt
water pump and radiator hoses
flame trap
idle speed control valve
fuel filter
air filter
oil and filter
fuel pump relay
in tank fuel pump
fuel pressure regulator and check valve
new battery
new AC condenser
wiring harness
water temp sensor
Any help would be great!
