I need to find out which relay is the overdrive relay underneath the cigarette lighter in my 1988 740 GLE. Can I find the relay in a common autoparts store like PepBoys or Autozone? Anyone who knows, please help. Thanks.

 

The overdrive relay is a white square relay.I think it is on the right side of the fuse box.
I think you can buy them just about anywhere.

Hello everybody! Thanks for the response. I just pulled out a relay with a part number 3523804. I just want to confirm that it is the overdrive relay. I would appreciate it if somebody could confirm this.

 

The OD relay that I have in parts bin, which was pulled from an 87 740 has the following, 12V 5DA Hella 004038-01 then at the bottom 1347764.

 

I know the fuel pump relay is dated.

I think the OD might as well.
